PROSECCO DOC ROSÉ

Extra Dry Sparkling Wine

The Giorgio Moroder Prosecco DOC Rosé Extra Dry is a sparkling wine with great personality. Ideal for aperitifs, it is characterized by a fruity bouquet and a fine and persistent perlage.

From a balanced cuvée of Glera and Pinot Noir grapes comes this refined interpretation of Prosecco in pink. The Prosecco DOC Rosé Extra Dry represents one of the most interesting innovations in Giorgio by Moroder’s production. Thanks to the approval of a change in the Prosecco DOC production regulations, today we can offer a rosé sparkling wine with great personality.

While maintaining a very close organoleptic connection with the Prosecco DOC family, with which it shares the production area, winemaking and sparkling methods, and the base made up of at least 85% Glera grapes, the Prosecco Rosé DOC has a well-defined identity. The association with Pinot Noir indeed manages to provide greater structure and roundness to the structure, without betraying the nature of the sparkling wine that has become synonymous with Italian Sparkling Wine worldwide.

Intriguing and pleasant to drink, the Rosé Doc Millesimato is a novelty to try as an aperitif, as a refined accompaniment to appetizers and snacks. But, with its fruity bouquet and fine and persistent perlage, the Prosecco Rosé Extra Dry is perfectly able to withstand a whole meal with fish and white meat dishes.

The latest novelty in the world of Prosecco DOC: the Rosé Millesimato

Very much in tune with the current taste of the Italian and international market, the Extra Dry Rosé Sparkling Wine joins the well-known Prosecco Superiore DOCG and the Prosecco DOC Sparkling Wine, traditionally vinified in white. The addition of a limited percentage of Pinot Noir grapes adds further complexity to a wine whose characteristics are strictly codified by the production regulations.

Indeed, in order to bear the prestigious title of Prosecco DOC, a Rosé Sparkling Wine must meet some precise requirements. Specifically:

  • The production must take place in the area of the Prosecco DOC, between Veneto (provinces of Treviso, Venice, Vicenza, Padua and Belluno) and Friuli Venezia Giulia (Gorizia, Pordenone, Trieste and Udine);
  • The cuvée must include a base of Glera grapes (minimum 85%) to which a percentage of Pinot Noir can be added, up to a maximum of 15%;
  • It must be a sparkling wine produced by the Charmat or Martinotti method, according to Italian nomenclature;
  • Like the other types of Prosecco DOC, the Rosé also provides a range of sugar residue varying from Brut Nature (or Dosage Zero), Extra Brut and Brut up to Extra Dry and Dry or Demi Sec;
  • The natural alcohol content must not be less than 9% vol;
  • Natural fermentation requires a minimum period of stay in autoclave that cannot be less than 60 days and is necessary to stabilize the color as well as to give roundness and thickness to the structure;
  • The Prosecco DOC Rosé must be vintage. Therefore, the label will have to report the indication Prosecco Rosé DOC Millesimato with the relevant year of harvest.

Pairings

The proposal to modify the production regulations of Prosecco DOC wines to introduce the Rosé type was published in the Official Gazette on June 15, 2020.

So, after almost two years of work and analysis, we finally arrived at the official approval of the new type of Prosecco Rosé DOC. A refined and seductive variant of sparkling wine, that will intrigue you with its complex bouquet and convince you with its immediate and never banal drink.
